I do not own an AP stylebook. Can someone please tell me if it is proper, according to the AP stylebook, to abbreviate “airplane” with “plane”? Thanks

The 2007 edition mostly uses the term aircraft, although they describe Air Force One “as the plane normally reserved for the president’s use” (p. 10).
